Privacy
The workshop reads its numbers off two gauges. Cloudflare Web Analytics provides aggregate readership data and sets no cookies. Google Analytics 4 — a Google LLC service, with Google Ireland Ltd. responsible where the reader sits in the EEA or UK — measures the pages you view, the referrer you came from, roughly where you are (city or country, no finer), the make of device and browser on your end, and when each session starts and stops. No IP addresses are logged or stored by GA4. In our setup the advertising features stay off, and so do Google signals and ad personalisation, so none of it is put to advertising, and none of it is sold.
Straight up about cookies: GA4 places _ga and _ga_<ID>, which can last up to 2 years. They only go down after analytics is allowed, and they're taken up again if you decline later on. If your device's time zone puts you in Europe — the EEA, the UK or Switzerland — we ask before anything happens, and Google is sent nothing unless you press Accept. Outside Europe, analytics runs by default and you can shut it off at any point. When your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat that as a no, unless you accept on purpose. Your decision is filed away in the browser's local storage; it isn't a cookie.
You can revisit your analytics choice any time. Google's privacy policy covers what it does with the data, and its opt-out browser add-on switches Google Analytics off on every site at once.
Outbound destinations set their own cookies under their own policies. Email is kept only as long as the conversation needs.
